Caleb’s calling to be a steward of the land is the same calling his dad felt when he immigrated from Germany and started their farm in the 1980s. To be the best steward possible, Caleb is always looking at how to make the most of every acre and every crop by focusing on soil health.
Fertility Program
Like many farmers, Caleb tailors his fertility program to every acre. He applies dry potassium and micronutrients in banded strip-till, then comes in with liquid nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur and other micronutrients through 3×2 and y-dropping.
Why biologicals?
Caleb knows there’s a vast supply of unavailable nutrients in his soil, which could make all the difference in his yields and, thus, his bottom line. He’s putting biologicals to the test to boost his soil health and help balance his soil biology to increase nutrient availability, uptake and utilization.
