Farming has been the heart and soul of the Wilts family for generations. For Harmon, it’s not just a way of life; it’s been an opportunity to raise his daughters in a nurturing environment and instill in them values and skills that will last a lifetime. Through his deep-rooted passion for harnessing the land’s resources, Harmon believes he’s not only contributing to his family’s legacy but also playing a part in feeding and fueling the world.
Fertility Program
Harmon utilizes a mix of dry and liquid, as well as fall and spring fertilizers. In the fall, he fires up the tractor and applies dry fertilizer in a band with strip tillage machinery. Then, applies liquid nitrogen through the planter and later with the sidedress bar. These applications have given Harmon the opportunity to trial BioPath® and other biologicals.
Why biologicals?
Harmon’s answer to “Why biologicals?” Is similar to many other farmers. He wants to see if biologicals can help their crop achieve yield goals through better nutrient utilization while simultaneously building soil health.
