    Objective

Evaluate the effects of the timing and rate of BioPath® applications on the yield and quality of Almonds.

    Overview

    • Some applied fertilizer and other soil nutrients are unavailable to the plant during nutrient uptake due to complex physical and chemical interactions.
    • Some soil microbes can influence these interactions to increase plant nutrient availability and improve nutrient uptake and utilization, resulting in increased plant biomass and vigor.
    • Some products (e.g., BioPath) contain multiple bacterial species that are specifically selected and formulated to promote plant nutrient availability.

    Trial Details

    Locations and Crop Management
    Crop: Almonds
    Years: 2023-25
    Number of Trials: 6
    Location: Central California
Data Source: Field Studies were conducted by
    third-party, independent researchers.
    Treatments:
    1. Grower Standard
    2. Biopath applied at 32 fl oz/ac once, twice or three times during the growing season
    3. Biopath applied at 16 fl oz/ac twice or three times during the growing season
    Cultivar: Independence/Nonpareil
Cropping Conditions: Trial conformed to local cropping practices. 7-8 year old trees planted in 20’ rows.
    Application Rate: 16 and 32 fl oz/A
Application Method: Applied to the soil during active irrigation
Application Timing: Applications at Petal Fall, and early and late Nut Growth. Treatments were applied to the same plots over 3 seasons.

    Results

    Summary

    • BioPath treatments applied at 16 oz/ac during early and late nut growth over a 3 year period significantly increased the number of nuts per tree and produced larger, heavier nuts resulting in an increase in meat yield.
    • Two applications of BioPath applied mid and late season are more beneficial than a single late season application or adding a third application early in the season.
    • BioPath treatments applied at 32 oz/ac did not provide significantly different results in yield or quality of the almonds than the 16 oz/ac treatments.
