    FAQs

    Who is Mosaic Biosciences™?

At Mosaic, we know crop nutrition. We also know that science is advancing to better understand the role beneficial bacteria play in crop nutrition. With the introduction of Mosaic Biosciences™, we now offer a line of biological products that are firmly based in science, and with the agronomic expertise that you have come to expect with the Mosaic name.

    What is Root Honey Plus?

Root Honey™ Plus is a premium 1-0-1 liquid bionutrient containing amino acids derived from oilseed extract, carbohydrates, high-grade fulvic acid and kelp. It is fortified with bioactives of PGPR — Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria.

How does Root Honey Plus technology work?

The carbon sources within Root Honey Plus can accelerate microbial growth and activity. The microbial bioactives in Root Honey Plus — PGPR — then produce enzymes and organic acids that improve the solubilization of fertilizer into plant-available forms and release bound nutrients. More availability of nutrients can improve nutrient uptake, lending to a more robust root system and optimizing plant growth and vigor.

When should I apply Root Honey Plus?

A protocol of regularly scheduled applications works best to ensure continuity and consistency. Applications should start when the soil temperatures are ~50°F (10°C). By establishing colonization early, you can strengthen the root system and preempt any stress-related circumstances prior to hot weather. Duration of applications may vary between six to 12 months, depending on plant type, what you are trying to accomplish and your geographic location.

What value does Root Honey Plus bring to my operation?

Root Honey Plus is an easy-to-incorporate bionutrient solution that can improve OM management and root growth in turfgrass. Examples:

    • Organic matter management in St. Augustine turf.
      • Over a two year period the industry-standard program resulted in a 12.1% increase of thatch.
      • Comparatively, by incorporating Root Honey Plus with the industry standard program, thatch accumulation was mitigated by 2%, 14% variance.
    • Root growth and turf quality in St. Augustine turf.
      • After two growing seasons (five applications), Root Honey Plus improved root mass by 10.4% and significantly increased root length by 11.3% compared to the industry standard program applied alone.
      • Root Honey Plus improved turf quality by 8.5% compared to the industry standard program.

How does Root Honey Plus fit into my maintenance program?

Adding Root Honey Plus to your maintenance program doesn’t require a complicated protocol. It can be incorporated through various application methods including tank-mix sprays in turfgrass, drip irrigation in greenhouses, and/or dip and drench in ornamentals. When tank-mixing, make sure application can occur within a few hours of mixing into the spray tank. For turfgrass, applications are made every seven to 28 days at a rate of 1 to 4 oz/1,000 sf, dependent on turf type — greens, tees, lawn. In greenhouse and nursery maintenance, it is recommended to pre-mix at a 1:100 dilution and apply through drip or spray. For flowers, bedding plants and ornamental transplants, mix 1 to 2 gallons in 50 to 100 gallons of water and apply to soil/growing media or plant material.

Can I tank-mix Root Honey Plus with pesticides and fertilizers?

Yes, Root Honey Plus is tank-mix compatible in water with liquid fertilizers and most pesticides. Avoid tank-mixing with copper fungicides and bactericides. When tank-mixing with liquid fertilizer or pesticides, perform a jar test to assure compatibility with different mixtures of chemicals. It is typically recommended to mix in the following order: fertilizers, chemicals, water, Root Honey Plus. For support or site-specific compatibility information, please contact your product representative to determine compatibility.
